There is more to art journaling than you might think… When creating dreams on the page with paper and paint leads to dreams coming true “for real”, it’s time to open up to the magic!

Right now, I’m in one of those “in-between” moments, one of those liminal spaces where everything seems to slow down and freeze, holding its breath before the next big leap… which happens tomorrow!

I’m feeling stuck, Yippee!… That’s right, since the holidays I have been feeling totally and utterly STUCK. The Artist Block in all its glory! If you’re a creative in any field at all, I’m sure this is something you can relate to, because it’s 100% part of the creative process. So what if we explored this together a little and see if I can lure myself back into the studio? Let’s find out!

Today I’m sharing a page from my journal that speaks of embracing the flow of life, letting go and welcoming new beginnings. Our wings are ready to lift us up towards the light, if we trust them and follow our heart.

Maybe that's because the solstice is approaching, but I'm more than ever fascinated by the play of Light and Shadow these days. And texture. And color... So here's a peek at what I'm up to lately: new, big abstract paintings, a solo show, encaustic wax and Layers of Light… Read on!

Making art is a physical experience: my hands and my whole body are as involved as my soul. It's a dance between this physicality and the deeply spiritual side of the process. Whispers and touch... There's something so intimate about this.

Working intuitively with collage, journaling and cut-out words, little messages of hope and love kept showing up on the page and my art journal really became a true friend.

Today I'm going back in time as I share my very first art journal page from a year ago, and how I began my art journaling practice at a time when resistance was strong. Revisiting it brings out new stories and thoughts about these first steps...

I'm a lover of books, and a year ago I started my first art journal, my "Book of Days"... I'm opening it for you today!

In the studio: Sometimes I really feel the urge to create something moody, something that feels like a stormy sky, where light and shadow dance together, where the rain washes away the layers of doubt and fear, leaving me renewed and just little bit raw. Just a little bit more me.

Today I'm sharing the story behind the creation of my new class Little Book of Whispers... It is a journey, a quiet one, a gentle one, born in little pockets of time amidst the roars of the world. A little bubble of stillness to reconnect with the not-so-loud part of ourselves and create beauty from this sacred and fragile inner place.

Oh how good it feels to be painting big again! This new work, titled "Imagine", has been such a beautiful, joyful, relaxing journey... In fact I've enjoyed it so much that I have started a whole new grid-based series. And so today I want to talk a little bit about the creative process, and the sweet dance between intuition and... structure!
